A1)Red as a colour is associated with romance and love,which connotes that the reason that women's beauty is important because it impresses men.
A2)
 The feature articles below tell the reader how to reach this aspirational level of beauty.These articles are titled "defensive care for dry skin" and "only skin,take the offensive".   
1) 
The female character is a tall,red haired,white women.This portrays an image of what women should look and act like.As she is tall,it makes her seem powerful.The magazine have done this to create the thought that buying a hoover makes women powerful as housewives.Also,her red hair causes her to come across as a fierce character.This further suggests that women are powerful. 
2)
This relates to Start hall's theory that women are reduced to a few simple characteristics.It also relates to bell hooks theory that feminism is a fight to end patriarchal ideology.

In the image in the bottom right corner, we can see a young,toddler crawling along the carpet,playing with a ball.Underneath the image is the anchorage text "a clean playground for your child".Furthermore,this signifies that it is important for women to look after their children,by cleaning the house.

The cover model can be seen wearing red lipstick and foundation on her face,which gives her skin a "glowing" look.

This shows that women were expected to have slim figures. 
6)
This can be associated with Van Zoonens theory that women's bodies are seen as objects by society.
