Representation of third world countries

In band aids Do They Know It's Christmas? song editing techniques show that there is hope for these people in poverty.A split screen shows an upset child and people passing buckets of water to each other. This indicates that the water is being sent to children like the one on screen. This encourages the audience to give to the charity,as they can see that their money would help those in poverty in third world countries. Also, this editing technique creates a positive mood as it shows that we can do something to help.

In contrast,Unicefs Likes Don't save lives ad doesn't show much positivity and shows more urgency. The room which the two kids are in is filled with shadows and darkness. This low key lighting suggests that they are in danger and also exposes their vunerability.Camera techniques also showcase the childrens vunerablity. The camera slowly zooms into one of the children. This represents how the polio virus is slowly getting closer to him. This causes the reader to feel the urge to help and donate immediately.

In Beasts of no nation props show that children in third world countries face serious problems at such a young age.The main character Agu, is forced to be a soldier, and he can be seen carrying a gun in many scenes.Guns are lethal weapons that can kill people in an instant. The fact that he is being given this responsibility at his age shows that nobody is exempt from the harsh realities of war in these countries. As a result, the audience empathises with him as he has to go through such hardships.Similarly,In the Unicef advert, young childen are exposed to potentially deadly diseases.
